Talented young people are being urged to think festive and get involved in this year’s Christmas celebrations in Spalding.
Organisers of the festive fair are keen to recruit more choirs to show off their vocal skills in a competition which will bring the sounds of Christmas carols to the town centre.
The competition forms an integral part of the celebrations which will see a host of entertainment and Santa arriving on his sleigh ahead of the Christmas lights switch on.
A total prize pot of £1,000 has been donated by Bakkavor to be split between the top three choirs.
This year’s lights switch-on event is being held on Friday, November 28, from 3pm to 8pm, and will be the start of a weekend of fun in the town organised by traders.
Tulip Radio’s Jan Whitbourn, who is organising the event, said: “We would really like to see as many choirs as possible taking part in this year’s event and bringing a bit of Christmas magic to the town centre.
“It is really shaping up to be a great event and it would be lovely to see as many children come along and be a part of it as possible.”
Jan is also keen to hear from any other singers or entertainers who would be keen to be a part of the weekend of events, or anyone who can help in any way to make it a year to remember.
Plans are also underway for a festive market to round off the weekend’s events and provide inspiration for gifts for those difficult-to-buy-for friends and family.
