Late goal flurry sinks Tigers’ hopes

A nightmare ending saw Holbeach United surrender all the points at home to Haverhill Borough at Carter’s Park on Saturday.

A closely competitive match looked to be heading for a 1-1 draw with only four minutes to go until a bizarre finale.
The Suffolk visitors took the lead after 86 minutes and went 3-1 up three minutes later, before completing a 4-1 victory in the last minute.
However, the drama did not end there with a skirmish seeing two visiting players sent off alongside the Tigers’ Kelvin Ibeneme.
The match had been all square at half-time with Haverhill taking the lead three minutes after the break following a defensive mix-up.
Sam Carter levelled from the spot three minutes after that and it appeared to have secured a 1-1 draw until the dramatic late change of fortunes.
In an effort to boost their attacking options, Holbeach have signed Enzo Coccitti, 19.
A club spokesman said of the Peterborough United u19 and previous Kettering Town Youth and Deeping Rangers man: “Enzo is a player we know well and we’re confident that he will add additional fire power to the forward line.”
Tigers: Waters, Nicholson, Ling, Bassendine-Matthews, C Lee, Carter, Yambasu, Thorne, Harris, Compton, Cook. Subs: Hebblethwaite, Ibeneme, M Lee.
Attendance: 101.
