Last hurrah for ball committee

After 13 years, the Johnson Hospital Ball committee has called it a day.

The committee went out with a bang on Saturday night with the Winter Wonderland Ball – raising £1,500 for the League of Friends’ television campaign.
Committee chairman Sally Brown said: “It was a fantastic night, everyone had a brilliant time.
“It’s a shame that it was the last one but expenses are going up and it’s getting harder to find the time we need to organise it all.
“It was a great evening though. The dancefloor was rammed all night and everyone seemed to be really enjoying themselves.”
Entertainment was provided by Leo Promotions disco and live band The Reavey Brothers, while the Rotary Club of South Holland provided Santa, who greeted arriving guests from his sleigh.
The first ball was held in 2009 to mark the opening of the new Johnson Hospital, and in the 13 years since, the committee has raised around £80,000 for various hospital projects.
