Ladies victorious at inaugural cup

The inaugural Captains’ Cup event proved to be a resounding success at Tydd St Giles Golf Club.

Teams of ten players across ladies’, men’s and seniors’ section, plus lodge owners competed for a new trophy.

A closely contested and hard-fought competition saw the women emerge as overall winners with an impressive 326 points.

Lodge owners came a close second with 323 points, followed by the men on 314, ahead of the seniors, 284.

In the individual standings, Christine Montague claimed top prize with 42 points, narrowly edging out Will Woodrow, who had 41.

Nearest the pin honours went to club captain Ryan Rout.

The event raised £200 for the captains’ charity and is set to become an annual event.

Men’s May Stableford, Division One: 1 Adrian Rowell 38pts, 2 Darren Jimson 37, 3 Steven Lamb 35ocb.
Division Two: 1 Gino Ciuffini 40pts, 2 Brian Newby 36, 3 Jonathan Housley-Stott 34.
Division Three: 1 Terry Pease 38pts, 2 Michael Woodhouse 35, 3 William Luckett 34ocb.
The club’s seniors drew 3½-3½ with visitors Middleton, with guest member Russell Doy.
