Labour candidate for South Holland and The Deepings MP campaigning on ‘fairer deal’

Labour’s parliamentary candidate for South Holland and The Deepings is asking for voters’ support in order to fight for a fairer economic deal for the constituency.

Matthew Mahabadi (pictured) says he has a lot of respect for John Hayes – the established MP he is hoping to oust – but takes him to task over recent results.
“He is our Transport Minister and yet we have a critical lack of investment in the constituency,” he said. “We need proper investment and I would ask voters to ask themselves what he has done.”

A key topic in May’s General Election will be immigration – an issue close to Mr Mahabadi’s heart, as the son of an Iranian immigrant.

The 26-year-old said: “My father fought hard to get a position in society. We need to invest in integrating communities in South Holland and the Deepings.”

Mr Mahabadi, who is vice-chairman of the local Labour Party, said Ed Miliband’s party is “fighting fit” and ready to make gains in May’s General Election.
He added: “My message to the local people on low or middle income earnings is ‘are you really getting a fair deal with cuts savaging straight to the bone?’
“These cuts are affecting quality of life. We need cuts but the cuts need to be fair. ”

Mr Mahabadi, who has recently moved to Peterborough, lived in Spalding from 2012 and worked in marketing at Bakkavor.
He invites contact from constituents by phone on 07971 918606 or email [email protected]
