Kirton’s Clarke disappointed despite solid Superstock showing

Aaron Clarke shrugged off a qualifying crash to finish a solid 31st at round seven of the National Superstock 600 Championship at Brands Hatch on Sunday.

The Kirton-based ACR Kawasaki rider began his weekend on Friday with free practice, where he got to grips with the Kent circuit and began to reduce his lap times.

He continued to make steady progress in qualifying the same day, reaching as high as 34th, before slid off the track at Paddock Hill Bend.

Fortunately, neither Clarke nor his bike were damaged, which allowed him to compete in Saturday’s qualifying. Despite a personal best lap, he failed to move any higher up the order.

Sunday’s race day saw him slowly work through the field, but once he reached 31st on lap 11 he was unable to reel in the riders ahead.

Clarke said: “I ended up 31st in the race but was disappointed with my pace. We went the wrong way with set up and I just struggled to match my pace from Q2 or better it.

“Massive thanks to everyone who came and supported me this weekend, it’s always appreciated and also Tim Scarbro for doing a top job with my bike all weekend, and also Richard from Maxton suspension for his help as always.”

The next round is at Thruxton over the weekend of July 31 to August 2.
