Kirton race ace Clarke feeling upbeat despite Donington Park crash

Kirton racer Aaron Clarke remained positive despite crashing out of the Superstock 600 race at Donington.

Clarke hit a bump and, although unhurt, tumbled out when well placed in 10th spot.

The draperRACING ace commented: “I was gutted to crash out in 10th place, especially as I knew that bump was there and had missed it all weekend when qualifying.

“But there are a lot of positives to be taken from this weekend as Donington is my worst circuit so for me to be pushing for a top 10 spot is mega.”

Clarke qualified well in 19th place and began his campaign from the seventh row after getting a fantastic start to move up into 12th place on the first lap.

The safety car came out to allow for the track to be cleared following a crash and, once it left the track after three laps, Clarke found himself up into 10th place.

He was running very close to the group ahead and poised to move further forward but he hit a bump on the track at Goddards and crashed unhurt and his race was over.

Ironically two or three riders who were ahead of Clarke in the race also crashed in the later laps and, if he had kept going, he could have been looking at a possible seventh place.
