Kinlock’s five are in vain

Spalding remain 13 points clear of the Lincolnshire Board Premier League drop zone, despite defeat at fellow strugglers Nettleham.

Ollie Dring won the toss and elected to insert the hosts. All was going to plan thanks to Barnaby Dring’s 3-51 reducing them to 59/3 but a 98-run fourth-wicket stand between Vinura Dulsara (94) and Nick Thomas (38) swung the match in Nettleham’s favour.

Back came Spalding with Walter Kinlock (5-31) rampaging through the lower order to leave them on 226/9 after their 42 overs.

The visitors made a slow start in their response and were struggling on 48/3 before captain Dring dug in, scoring a six and eight fours in a rapid 58.

George Hix then hit a run-a-ball 29 but the overs ran out with his team 19 runs short of victory.
