Kilby eases to big win despite poor weather conditions at Tydd Gote Angling Club meet

Tydd Gote Angling Club’s Sunday match at Main Road was once again beset with poor weather with gusting winds and some torrential rain – but the fish still fed in numbers.

Fishing the early number pegs was clearly the right move as the in-form Andrew Kilby put a mixed bag of roach, skimmers, perch and rudd totalling 15lb 7oz on the scales.

Catching short just past the rushes with maggot and pinkie, Kilby attracted fish steadily through the day for a comfortable win.

Pete Emery found some quality roach and skimmers for 10lb 12oz on maggot over groundbait and hemp for the runners-up spot, despite losing many fish to the numerous pike in his swim.

Tony Carr was third with 6lb 6oz, catching on maggot and caster just edging Steve Borrett’s 6lb 5oz of mainly waggler caught rudd on maggot.
p Wednesday Open (Main Road): 1st John Taylor 1lb 4oz; 2nd Don Green 12oz; 3rd Tony Carr 11oz.
