Kick off for PlayZone construction

Work to build a new sporting facility has started in Sutton Bridge.

A new PlayZone is being built in the Memorial Park and designed to be used for a number of sports.

The Lincolnshire FA and Sutton Bridge United have been heavily involved in its creation with funding coming from The Football Foundation, Sutton Bridge Solar Farm, Grange Wind Farm and the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.

Sutton Bridge Parish Council set up a PlayZone Steering Group to land the facility and members were invited to see the ground being broken last week.

A spokesman for the council said: “Work is expected to be completed within approximately 12 weeks.

“Once finished, the PlayZone will provide a modern, accessible space designed to encourage physical activity and support grassroots sport for residents of all ages.

“We are thrilled to see this project move from planning into delivery. The PlayZone will be a valuable asset for our community, providing a high-quality space for sport, recreation, and bringing people together.

“This combined investment highlights strong support from both national and local partners in improving community infrastructure.”
