Keep the kids busy this summer

There’s no excuse for boredom this summer when the South Holland Centre is offering a host of arts and drama activities to keep the kids entertained.

Children aged four to seven can explore their inner dino at a Dinosaur Drama Day run by Act II Theatre Company on Thursday, July 28, working towards a short performance at the end of the day. Cost is £17 per child or £32 for two siblings.

Act II take up residence for two Youth Theatre weeks where seven to 14-year-olds can enhance their drama skills, have fun, make new friends and perform their work at the end of the week. Children will work on a version of CS Lewis’ Voyage of the Dawn Treader from August 8 to 12.

And there will be a musical twist to the second week, August 15 to 19, when children can work on the legend of King Arthur & the Knights of the Round Table set to a rocking Queen soundtrack. Youth theatre weeks run 10am-4pm each day and cost £65 per child or £115 for two siblings.

Creation Station will be keeping crafty children busy with two drop off sessions where eight to 11-year-olds can explore an exciting range of arts and craft activities. These run on Monday, August 1, 10am to noon and Monday, August 22, 2pm to 4pm. Cost is £10 per child or £18 for two siblings.

Little ones won’t miss out though as there will also be a session for accompanied two to 11-year-olds on Monday, August 22, 10am to noon. Cost is £5 per child or £8 for two siblings.

Finally Lincolnshire Music Education hub have sponsored a free Jazzpac Summer School suitable for 11 to 19-year-olds who have reached grade 4 or above in their chosen jazz instrument.

This two day course runs on Thursday and Friday, August 25 and 26. Places are free but must be pre- booked.

And film fans will be very well catered for with screenings of hotly anticipated family movies such as The Angry Birds Movie, The Secret Life of Pets, The Jungle Book, The BFG and Finding Dory.
