Joiners dovetail into fundraising

Those studying joinery at a Holbeach school have all chipped in to help a town organisation.
University Academy Holbeach has a number of apprenticeships and diplomas on offer.
Every year they create items that they then sell with the profits going to a local charity.
This year the beneficiaries of the biggest total raised to date was Boxes of Hope.
The not for profit community interest group’s Mandy Baxter picked up a cheque for £612.
It takes the amount students have raised over the last three years to nearly £1,500.
“It’s amazing and a lot of money,” said Mandy. “Looking at the work the young people do, it’s fantastic.”
Darren Morris, of the joinery department, said: “It’s part of the learning process and a bit of fun.
“The students make items they then sell before Christmas and the money goes to charity.”
Mandy received a tour of some of the UAH facilities including its car garage for budding mechanics, brick laying yard and replica hospital ward.
She said that Boxes of Hope are set to work further with UAH and look to offer volunteer opportunities.
