Join yoga community with a class to suit you

Whether you are an absolute beginner or have been enjoying the benefits of yoga for a while, you are sure to find a class that suits you with Padma Yoga.

Whatever your level, one thing you are sure to find is a sense of community, as that is what the Spalding-based studio prides itself on.
These days Padma Yoga operates from a dedicated space at Spalding Constitutional Club in Broad Street, where the studio is bathed in light from the big windows – perfect for practising the relaxing art of yoga.
Padma Yoga is owned and run by Claire Thomas, who has a long list of yoga qualifications to her name.
She started teaching yoga classes in 2005 before returning to Spalding in 2007 and by 2010 decided she needed a dedicated studio, which she created at her own home.
However, it wasn’t long before more space was required and after a year-long search the town centre premises at the Constitutional Club was found.
And Claire still has plans to expand further.
She said: “I am now looking for qualified teachers to join the team so that the studio can offer a broader range of yoga styles.
“Our intention is to create a yoga community, where our students can choose from a range of different classes and workshops.
“We have some students that want a weekly class, while others travel from further afield to attend our weekend workshops.
“We welcome all ages to the studio, and are particularly keen to encourage men to try yoga.
“We have everyone from ladies with baby bumps right through to people in their 60s or 70s.
“The great thing about yoga is that it’s really accessible for everyone.
“People often worry that it will be too hard for them or that they won’t be flexible enough, so we offer beginners courses, and gentle Hatha Yoga classes to introduce people slowly.
“At the end of a beginners course we help new students choose the level of class that will be most suitable for them.
“At the other end of the scale people join us that have been practising yoga for some time and either want a change or extra class, have moved in to the area or are yoga teachers looking to attend a class or workshop.
“We love to talk to people and help them find the best class for them.
“While we have space for more students, classes are limited to 12 for beginners and 15 for regular students, this ensures everyone gets the attention they need.”
Claire says the demand for yoga continues to grow as more people get switched on to the way in which yoga can improve health and wellbeing.
Often considered to be a series of postures, yoga also includes breathing practices and deep relaxation that can be really helpful for a range of health conditions, including stress, anxiety and depression.
It helps the body to function as effectively as possible and is a great way of cultivating peace of mind.
