John’s fundraiser after book boost

A Donington man has raised £200 for charity by sleeping rough in Spalding.

John Stephenson decided to spend two nights sleeping out in the town to raise money.

The 46-year-old is currently training to be a peer mentor for the probation service and frequently takes on fundraising efforts.

“It was cold but I had a lot of good people looking out for me,” said John who has done something similar before.

He’s also the subject of a recently published book by his US based martial arts mentor Ted Gambordella on his career as a bare knuckle boxer who also dabbles in martial arts and appeared in a book Ted wrote on his Martial Arts Hall of fame.

The books are available to purchase from Amazon.

“It’s an honour,” John said of having the books published.”
