John’s five wicket haul as Long Sutton 2nds batter Boston

The South Lincolnshire and Border League local derby at Long Sutton was among the matches rained off.
Sutton were racing along at 49 without loss of six overs before the rain came, Nathan Oliver (20 not out off 17) and Calvin Bird (21 off 16) having given them a fast start. Both sides take eight points.
Long Sutton 2nd XI meanwhile managed a victory inside 22 overs at Boston 3rd XI.
Firstly they bowled Boston out for 16 in 17.3 overs.
In just 21 balls, Calum John claimed a five wicket haul. His 5 for 4 from 3.3 overs mopped up the tail alongside Rob Simpson’s 3 for 8 from five. Opening bowlers Joe Whitaker (2 for 6 from five) and Ed Munson (0 for 6 from four) had built up the pressure at the top of the innings.
Sutton’s second string knocked that off without losing a wicket in 4.3 overs with Aaron John hitting 21 and Daniel Plant 7.
Long Sutton’s Sunday side earned a comprehensive 10-wicket win over Ketton Sports in Rutland Cricket League Division Two.
They bowled the home side out for 101 before surpassing that total without a loss.
The scheduled Division Three match between Sutton’s 2nds and Moulton Harrox’s Sunday side was abandoned without a ball being bowled.
