One of the two people looking to lead the Conservative Party held a question and answer session with party members in South Holland last week.
Robert Jenrick, the MP for Newark, who is battling with Kemi Badenoch for the position, was hosted by local MP Sir John Hayes at FreshLinc in Spalding.
Sir John said: “I am backing Robert Jenrick to be the next leader of the Conservative Party as he best grasps the issues that matter to the British people, including the need for authentic conservative views on law and order, cutting immigration, as well as a common-sense energy policy.
“He represents our best chance of inspiring voters including those our party lost in many parts of the country at the last election.
“The fact so many local people turned out at late notice to hear Mr Jenrick speaks volumes about his popularity.
“Robert answered every question, ranging from capping immigration, his support for leaving European Convention on Human Rights and opposing the use of farmland for solar panels and pylons.”
