Jenny and Seamus are first two winners at South Holland Open Arts 2017

The first two winners in South Holland Open Arts 2017 have been announced.

Best newcomer award winner Jenny Wood with John Gray, of sponsor Riverbank Studios, in front of her artwork.

The best newcomer prize, sponsored by Riverbank Studios, went to Jenny Wood for her seascape painting View to Isle of Arran. The best photography award, sponsored by Shutter Hub, went to Seamus Bryans.

Coun Gary Taylor, South Holland District Council’s portfolio holder for arts development, said: “I would like to congratulate Jenny and Seamus for their awards, they have certainly created some very impressive artwork.

“The standard of art on show this year is very high, so I would urge anyone who hasn’t visited the exhibition yet to pop along soon.”

South Holland Open Arts aims to showcase the best work by professional and amateur artists from across the region. This year’s event is being at the South Holland Centre in Spalding until Thursday (March 9).

Visitors are invited to vote for their favourite piece of work, with the artist receiving the most votes awarded a trophy.
