Jake’s amazing gesture

A Spalding 15-year-old has, for the fifth straight year, bought presents to bring children in care an extra reason to smile at Christmas.

Jake Winkett uses his own money to donate toys to good causes, something that he’s done for several years.

This year the Spalding Academy pupil donated tens of presents for the Kids Out charity to be handed out to young people who are in care.

Jake’s mum Julie helped him with the presents.

She said: “I think we made about 45 in total for those children who otherwise might not get a present.

“Jake’s done something similar since year five at primary school and he does use his own money to buy the gifts.”
