Jail threat for Spalding resident whose dangerous driving caused Cowbit man’s death

A Spalding driver has been warned he faces jail after admitting causing the death of a motorcyclist on the A16.

Edvinas Maciulevicius (25), of Piccard Drive, Spalding, pleaded guilty to causing the death of Marcel Banom by dangerous driving on the A16 at Spalding on March 12, 2014.

Mr Banom (37), of Peak Hill, Cowbit, was on his way to work at the time of the fatal collision.

Judge John Pini QC adjourned sentence until next month to allow time for the preparation of a probation report and granted Maciulevicius bail.

But the judge told Maciulevicius: “The fact that I am adjourning for a report on you is no indication as to the likely sentence. Cases such as this well pass the custody threshold.”
