Jail likely after assault

A man and woman who admit attacking a man at a Spalding hotel have appeared in court.
Leanne Thornton, (42) and Danny Lodge (24) were arrested after police were called to the Travelodge at Springfields Outlet Centre on June 24.
Officers charged both of them after their victim required hospital treatment. His injuries were not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing.
Both appeared before Judge Simon HIrst at Lincoln Crown Court.
Thornton, of Low Gate, Gosberton, admitted a charge of inflicting grievous bodily harm to Joshua Phipps on June 24.
Her plea was entered on the basis hat she had repeatedly punched the victim, but was not involved in stabbing him.
Lodge, of Bishops Way, London, admitted to the more serious offence of intending to cause grievous bodily harm to Mr Phipps on the same day.
He admitted two further charges of perverting the course of justice and assaulting an emergency worker.
Judge Hirst adjourned sentencing until December 15 at Lincoln Crown Court.
Both defendants have been warned that a jail sentence was ‘overwhelmingly likely.’
