Jail for man who gave teens drugs

A South Holland man who supplied cannabis to two teenage girls was jailed for 15 months.

Daniel Bailey (46) admitted supplying the Class B drug between January 18, 2019, and September 1, 2021.
Bailey, of New Road, Holbeach St Marks, also pleaded guilty to possessing personal amounts of cannabis and cocaine following his arrest on October 13 last year.
Lincoln Crown Court heard police carried out a search of Bailey’s home in October 2022 following disclosures from one of his victims.
Officers found a set of mini scales, a bag of cannabis, a snap bag of cocaine and a bong with related drugs paraphernalia.
In his interview with the Probation Service, Bailey admitted supplying cannabis to one girl from the age of 13, and to a second girl from the age of 16.
Tom Heath, mitigating for Bailey, said he accepted the starting point was a custodial sentence.
Mr Heath explained Bailey began using cannabis himself at the age of 14 and his addiction led him to normalise the drug.
Passing sentence Judge Catarina Sjolin Knight said Bailey was being sentenced on a basis that he supplied cannabis to two girls from the age of 13 and 16.
Judge Sjolin Knight told Bailey he had “normalised” the use of cannabis by children.
“This kind of behaviour must be met with immediate custody,” Judge Sjolin Knight added.
“I accept you are a bright man but you have demonstrated no will to change.”
Judge Sjolin Knight also praised an impact statement which was read out in court by one of Bailey’s victims, describing the words as “articulate and brave.”
