Danny Jackson smashed a magnificent 158 not out to guide Pinchbeck to a crushing derby victory over Spalding Town 3rd in South Lincs and Border League Division Two on Saturday.

The opener’s unbeaten century, which included 25 fours and a six, is the highest score ever made by a Pinchbeck player.

On what was a glorious day at Spalding Grammar School, Pinchbeck took full advantage of great batting conditions and made their opponents work hard in the field – posting a big total of 258-1.

Jackson’s innings was one of confidence and maturity as he got runs on both sides of the wicket. And, having secured his maiden ton, he went on to become the first Pinchbeck batsman to pass 150.

Getting into his stride quickly, he dominated an opening stand of 82 with Ed Grant (6) which set the platform. Jackson then shared an unbroken partnership of 176 in 21 overs with Sam Smith, who himself weighed in with a majestic unbeaten 72.

The Town reply started defiantly with an opening partnership of 75 – thanks largely to the efforts of Keith De Keyzer (62), who went after any loose delivery and notched up ten boundaries en-route to a half century.

Pinchbeck were relieved to get the breakthrough when Ian Wilson was bowled by Nick Crook (2-35), before Lee Eyett (4-39) seized control and made inroads into the batting order – including the wicket of De Keyzer for 62.

Left-armer Alex Watkins picked up a brace of wickets late on as Pinchbeck were able to wrap up a comfortable victory with Spalding all out for 132.
