A 20-year-old who says he feels a duty to serve Spalding is hoping to become the youngest member on South Holland District Council.
Jack McLean will be standing as a Conservative candidate in St John’s ward in the May 2015 election.
Jack says he has quickly developed an admiration for the hard work of the Conservative Party in and around Spalding.
He said: “Through a combination of different experiences, I have come to feel indebted to provide a service to our town.
“My love for community spirit comes from working as the head chef of a local pub, by getting to know the locals and by providing them with a valued service.
“I later trained as an apprentice in web development with Driveby Websites, a local website design company.”
Jack is chairman of the South Holland and the Deepings Conservative Future organisation and says he has been working on getting young people involved in politics locally for a long time now.
He said: “I have always felt it was my duty to serve our town, and since becoming chairman of the local Conservative Future, I am pleased to say much of our achievements have been focused more towards young people doing their bit for our community.”
Jack, of Knight Street, Pinchbeck, recently organised a litter-pick at Spalding skate park by young Conservatives and district councillors.
Now that his candidacy has been confirmed he plans to direct his attention to the residents of his intended ward.
He said: “The response to my recent contact with the residents of St John’s has been overwhelmingly positive.
“I am still out delivering letters regularly, and I just want to thank everybody that has taken the time in their day to respond or to stop and talk about local issues.
“I still have more to deliver yet, but I am out most days and I look forward to the opportunity to get to know many more people while I am out.”
