Is vicarage set to be dentists?

Plans have been submitted to turn a historic former vicarage into a new dentist.

The building next to St Paul’s Church on Holbeach Road in Fulney is a Grade II listed building.

Robert Doughty Consultancy Ltd has applied for both a change of use application to turn the property into a dentists and an application to change a listed building.

It does not state who would operate the dentists and declined to comment when asked.

“The proposal involves some minor internal and external alterations, together with the formation of a gravel car park and improvements to the existing access on to Holbeach Road,” documents submitted as part of the applications state.

It continues there would be 21 parking spaces which has ‘been calculated in relation to the number of likely staff and patients’.

The proposal will see the re-use of a Grade II Listed Building for a use which will be of benefit to the local population and which responds to a local and national shortage of dental services.

Any works on the currently six bed home could also be reversed, the applicant claims, if the dental use ceases.
