Unbeatable Spalding Sunday League champions Pinchbeck United Sunday rounded off their title-winning season with a devastating 9-4 win over Punchbowl Panthers.

In-form Jonny Clay – usually a defender – made it seven goals in two games with a four-goal haul for Tom Roberts’ side, with Ricky Drury also chipping in with a hat-trick.

Ricky Dickinson and Andy Law completed the scoring for the ‘Sunday ballers’ at Knight Street, making it 19 wins and a draw from their 20 league games this campaign.

Having missed out on top spot by six points last year, the super season has delighted Roberts – with a county cup exit to FSC Victory his only regret.

The player/boss said: “Overall it has been a successful season. Not losing in the league is a great achievement.

“The lads have been fantastic and always maintain high standards, regardless of who we play.

“A disappointing factor was a premature exit from the county cup but we will learn from that and come back stronger and wiser next season.”

For Punchbowl, defeat in their final game ended their hopes of securing the runners-up position in this year’s league.

They held their own going forward, with Sam Munton (2), Ryan Wheeler and John Smith all on target.

However, the Sunday setback leaves them third in the final standings – with Sutton Bridge Sunday securing second spot on goal difference.

Jubilee had already secured fourth, which represents their best showing in years. Fenway complete the top five after a fantastic finish to the season which saw them win seven of their last eight matches.

Sunday League top scorers:  31 – Ben Partridge  (Sutton Bridge); 26 – Ryan Wheeler (Punchbowl); 24 – Lee Still  (Sutton Bridge); 19 – Chris Ward  (Murrow Bell); 17 – Ricky Drury (Pinchbeck); Chris Beale (Jubilee); Sam Munton (Punchbowl)..
