Internet connection to 200 homes deliberately cut

Around 200 homes around Holbeach St Johns were left without an internet connection for more than 24 hours after a cable was deliberately cut.

BT Openrech say it believes the issue was the a result of an attempted theft after being reported on Wednesday, February 6.

The connection itself was cut at the junction of Jiggle’s Gate and B1165 Raven’s Bank between Holbeach St Johns and Moulton and work was carried out throughout Thursday to fix the problem.

BT Openreach confirmed that all services were back on by Friday morning.

An Openreach spokesperson said: “The suspected attempted theft has left around 200 premises without broadband service. Engineers visited on Wednesday night and reported that emergency traffic management would be required to work safely.

“We’re sorry for the disruption to both internet users and traffic and we’d urge anyone who noticed anything suspicious to report it to the police.”
