Plans have been given the green light for information boards to be installed beside a town’s cattle and sheep statues.
Members of South Holland District Council’s (SHDC) Planning Committee approved plans for one board to be installed on the pavement next to the cattle in Spalding’s New Road, writes Local Democracy Reporter Oliver Castle.
The stainless steel sign will measure 420mm by 297mm. It will be located on an existing planter.
At a meeting on Wednesday, June 24, councillors also approved plans for a separate information board relating to the sheep sculptures.
This sign will also be made of stainless steel and be the same measurements as its New Road counterpart. It will be located on an existing sign in Sheep Market.
The council’s assistant conservation officer had recommended that the proposals should be approved and said the ‘size, design, and siting of the board are considered appropriate’.
Both applications were brought forward by Spalding and District Civic Society, which applied to SHDC for advertisement consent to install the new signs.
The plans were considered by the planning committee because the signs will be fixed to property belonging to SHDC.
Both applications were passed without any debate.
The cattle and sheep statues were unveiled last year to celebrate the town’s rich livestock history.
