In court over theft of old car parts

A hobbyist car parts dealer will stand trial on a charge of theft from a disused Jaguar E type.

Ross Coleman, 35, is accused of stealing parts belonging to Alan Giles from a field in Setchey, Norfolk.

The prosecution says a valuation of the property as scrap is between £2,000 and £3,500.

Coleman, of Old South Eau Bank, Throckenholt, appeared before King’s Lynn Magistrates’ Court on Thursday.

The court heard that the defendant does not deny taking the parts – said to have been from a rusting car under a tree and covered in vines – but claims he paid £500 to someone.

The parts were later recovered.

The trial was set for January 5 and Coleman was granted unconditional bail.
