New Holbeach United manager Danny Hussey wants his side to stop the extraordinary recent goalscoring exploits of rivals Sleaford Town on Saturday.
The last four matches involving Sleaford have seen 25 goals scored, with the Greens managing to net seven of those in one match as they beat Kirby Muxloe 7-3 last time out.
Hussey’s Tigers have the best defensive record in the league, however, and are in no mood for that to change at Eslaforde Park on Saturday (3pm).
“I saw a Tweet from them about all of the goals they’ve been scoring,” said the Holbeach boss. “I also saw they were talking about how many goals would be in their game with us.
“I know it was light-hearted stuff, but that’s the kind of thing we’ll use in the dressing room.
“I was pleased to see that we have the best defensive record in the league, it’s certainly something I can look to build on moving forward.
“I know Sleaford have signed Ryan Oliver in recent weeks, something that obviously gives them a big attacking threat.
“We’ll go there looking to win the game, but a draw wouldn’t be the end of the world either.”
Holbeach are still without midfielder Luke Avis for the South Lincolnshire derby, but should still field a strong squad.
Hussey is yet to make any moves in the transfer market and insists that he’ll only look to make changes once he’s fully assessed the squad.
