Huge fine for Holbeach van driver caught speeding 29 times in just a few weeks

A Holbeach man caught speeding 29 times in just a few weeks has been fined a total of £10,117 for motoring offences by magistrates.

Vasile Strajeru, 43, of Hall Gate in Holbeach, pleaded guilty to the charges of breaking the speed limit while driving a Vauxhall Combo that date from November 27, 2020 to January 13, 2021.

The majority of the charges heard at Boston Magistrates Court relate to incidents during December 2020 including several days on which he was caught multiple times.

On December 22 and 23 he was caught five times by the cameras on the A151 through Whaplode where the speed limit is 30mph.

That was the location he was caught on 27 of the 29 occasions, the other two being on the A16 at Crowland where it’s a 60mph limit.

For the seven offences where his speed was found to be more than 10mph over the speed limit Strajeru was given five or four points on his licence and a £533 fine.

For those less than 10mph over he received a £266 fine and three points on his licence.

The accumulation of 98 penalty points means an immediate driving ban.

He also fined £800, ordered to pay £90 costs and a £34 victim surcharge for driving without insurance on High Road in Whaplode on March 24, 2021.

Magistrates ordered Strajeru to pay £700 a month commencing from December 21.
