Hub beats at the heart of village

Refurbishing work continues at Gosberton Youth Centre which remains at the heart of the community.

Volunteers took over the running of the centre in 2023 amid fears of the building being converted into housing, and they re-opened the doors in November of the same year.
More than 60 young people attend the Youth Hub twice-monthly and now the YMCA will be taking over the leadership of the sessions.
A team of volunteers will support the leaders, and all the other activities will be operated by the Gosberton Youth Club management committee. The Junior and Senior Hubs run the second and fourth Friday each month.
“It is two years since the youth centre was threatened with demolition, but following several thousands of pounds in improvements, it is now fully operational,” said trustee Tom Mehew.
Contractors are currently in the process of refurbishing the toilets with help from grants by Asda and Lincolnshire Charity Foundation.
The work is the latest in a long list of refurbishments at the building (pictured), which has been helped by a variety of charities and local supporters.
There will be a Community Hub open day on Saturday (March 2), from 10am to 2pm, which includes Mother’s Day crafts for children, free wifi and free soup and a roll from 12pm to 1.30pm.
The warm space is open on the first Saturday of the month. Bingo is held every Wednesday from 6.15pm and on March 1, 15,29 and April 12 and 26. Top organist and keyboard players Rod Pooley will be performing on April 13 from 2pm.
Doors open at 1.30pm and tickets are £7 (£10 with cream tea) on 07747 314390.
