Houses planned on site of closed pub

Two new houses could be built on land next to a closed pub in Moulton Chapel.

James Kilkenny, of The Plough Inn in Woodgate Road, wants planning consent for one four-bedroom property and another with three bedrooms.
Permission was granted for the same design following an application in 2008, but it expired in February this year.

A statement submitted to South Holland District Council by Weston Hills firm TAC Architects said: “The site is overgrown and the property has not been well maintained since the closure of the public house some ten years ago, which is having a detrimental impact to the visual amenity of the immediate area.”

It added: “The design of the proposed dwellings which are the subject of this application is intended to reflect and reinforce the traditional buildings seen in the area and will enhance the housing stock of the district.”
The statement concluded that the proposal was “of benefit not only to the site, but also Moulton Chapel.”
