A massive step forward has been taken in modernising Holbeach Hospital.
Digital help is at hand now for staff at the Holbeach and East Elloe Hospital Trust.
“We have been rolling out digitisation this week, using new handheld devices that we will us to record all care needs and care received, rather than recording the information using traditional paper records,” said manager Julia Scott.
Bringing social care into the digital age is part of the government’s Next Steps to Put People at the Heart of Care Plan. Previously the hospital kept paper records of care plans or information but now they can access it electronically.
“This is a massive change for the staff and our hospital, so please bear with us as we all get used to the new technology.
“So far our staff have coped brilliantly with the change and we are so proud of them,” added Julie.
The hospital provides beds for use by local GPs, nursing home beds and reablement beds and the trust that runs it has been operating for 34 years.
“As a team we hope that embracing technology will enable us to continue to drive forward the provision of great quality, person-centred care. By having all care records recorded digitally, staff and health professionals can have instant access to accurate information,” said Julie.
The hospital is a community-run facility and operates with a board of trustees led by chairman Chris Penney.
