Homes for old nursery site?

Plans for another 76 new homes in Spalding have been submitted to South Holland District Council.

The former Ivanda Nursery site on the east side of Monks House Lane would be developed if the plans are approved.

“Surrounded on three sides by existing residential development and located within the settlement boundary, the site is considered eminently suitable for residential development,” says a development and access document submitted with the application.

The application by Seagate Homes comes just days after another developer, Ashwood Homes, was granted permission to build up to 400 homes in Pinchbeck.

The 76 homes would be a mix of sizes from one to four bedrooms and the existing dwelling would be retained.

“The nursery site is now tightly surrounded by residential estate development to the north, east and south. Over time it has become subsumed within the wider residential area and now represents the last undeveloped parcel within this part of the town,” the statement adds.

The development, to the north of the Edward Road Dyke, would have a total of 11 different house types to make a ‘varied composition’ of units.

Permission is sought for six one-bedroom; 34 two-bedroom; 30 three-bedroom and six four-bedroom homes.

The new homes would be accessed from Monks House Lane and another access point at Toridge Road.

* Another application has been submitted by Seagate Homes for nine homes at Spalding Common.
The site at Millfield House, is part of the side and rear garden area of the detached property built in the 1970s.

It is adjoined by new residential development taking place. The proposal would see five homes on the side garden and four at the rear of the property.

Parking will be in front of the properties

“The site is considered eminently suitable for residential development. The site is located within the defined settlement boundary for Spaling, where new residential development is supported,” says the application.

Described as a disused garden and paddock, the land is just under half an acre.
