Home is where the council is

South Holland District Council says the 76 homes it has delivered in the last financial year is a record for the authority.

Some 48 are rented council properties, 21 are for sale under shared ownership proposals and seven are privately rented through SHDC’s own housing company Welland Homes.
They are in places including Crowland, Holbeach, Gosberton, Surfleet, Weston and Sutton St James.
A spokesman for the council said: “By offering a variety of different ways to offer housing for residents, including rental and shared ownership, the council is able to meet a wide range of housing needs and aspirations, and help both households looking to take their first step on the property ladder as well as those needing to rent more affordably.”
Coun Gary Taylor, deputy leader and portfolio holder for strategic housing at the district council said: “It has been a fantastic year of hard work and success for our housing delivery team, and we are so pleased to be providing a record number of new homes.
“We are very proud to be one of the minority of local authorities still delivering new houses for its residents, and we take a lot of pride in our commitment to providing quality and affordability and being a landlord of choice in the district.”
