Discount store Home Bargains may be moving into the former Wilko site in Spalding.
The company, which has more than 575 stores around the country, has applied for signage to go up on the unit next to Sainsbury’s in Holland Market.
The prime site has remained empty since Wilko closed for business in 2023.
And another empty unit on the same row could be about to house a Cancer Research charity shop.
Plans for the charity’s signs to go up at the former Argos store have been submitted to South Holland District Council.
There is currently a Cancer Research shop on Hall Place and it’s not clear if that will remain.
Home Bargains has also submitted its plans to South Holland District Council for new signage across the unit.
A company spokesman declined to comment at this stage.
Home Bargains was founded in 1976 by Tom Morris in Liverpool.
Branded as a ‘luxury shopping experience with a budget price tag.’
It also employs more than 27,000 staff and the TJ Morris parent company aims to have 1,000 stores.
The news comes in the wake of the recent closure of town centre shops including Bookmark and New Look. Inkley’s Menswear also closed and the town centre has a plethora of empty premises, including the former Barclays building which closed to customers in May last year.
