Spalding came away with a well-deserved victory in a hard-fought clash against the Division One North leaders.
The first half saw both teams battling evenly and the breakthrough did not come until the second half, shortly after Hennie Boekestyn received a green card.
Despite the setback, Spalding rallied and Ellie Holland found the backboard with a well-worked goal, assisted by Charlotte Maplethorpe .
South were reduced to ten players with a yellow card, giving Spalding a slight edge in the closing stages. However, it needed a sensational goal-line clearance by player of the match Karen Timby to preserve Spalding’s points.

Two goals in five minutes in the second quarter of their Division 3NW match condemned the second team to defeat.
A well-matched contest saw both teams showing solid defensive structures and intent going forward.
Kettering found a breakthrough in the 28th minute and doubled their lead five minutes later.
Spalding maintained their composure and continued to press in the second half, with possession remaining evenly split.
Spalding frequently entered the home D and earned multiple short corners but were unable to convert any into goals in a performance full of effort and promise.

Spalding dominated against an experienced team and broke through when Sam Foston’s pass to player of the match Isla Worrall secured the first goal in their Division 5NW encounter.
Kettering levelled before half-time but Spalding regained the advantage from a penalty corner after the break when Khloe Brewster scored with a good finish after a scramble in the D.
Kettering pulled Spalding’s goalkeeper out of position to equaliser again but, after lots of tackles in the defensive D, the ball was played out to Jess Pilgrim who drove down the line. She passed to Jess Worth and the ball was delivered back into the D for Worrall to score the winner.
