Holbeach woman in court over family feud voice message

A dispute between two families led to a 26-year-old Holbeach woman sending a threatening and abusive message, a court has been told.

Claire Marie Houghton of Allison Avenue, Holbeach admitted to sending a grossly offensive and menacing electronic communication when she appeared at Boston Magistrates Court.

Prosecuting, Marie Stace said that on October 5 last year, a voice mail message was left on the phone of a
woman saying: “Get on the phone to your f—— mother and tell her to shut her mouth or I’ll turn up at
her door and if I do that, it won’t be f—— pretty.”

Ms Stace said there had been issues between the two families but there had been nothing since this voice
message had been left.

Mitigating, Roger Lowther said the dispute stemmed from when Ms Houghton’s partner left her in August
last year after a three-year relationship, and moved in with her aunt.

He said there had been various issues regarding his property left behind at Ms Houghton’s home but there
had been no repeat and more than six months had gone by.

“She has moved on with her life,” he told the magistrates.

They imposed a six month conditional discharge and ordered her to pay £105 in costs and charges.
