Holbeach United see off Sleaford to set up clash with Boston Town

HOLBEACH UTD 2 SLEAFORD TOWN 1: Lee Beeson’s winner sent the Tigers through to the next round of the Lincs FA Senior Trophy.

It completed a quick turnaround for the midfielder who had apologised to the club after being sent off for violent conduct four days earlier. That red card came in a 2-0 defeat by Huntingdon Town which ended the Tigers’ 100 per cent start to the league season.

Joint boss Graham Drury was pleased to get over Wednesday’s hurdle relatively comfortably.

“It was important that we had the chance to get back to winning ways and it was important to give other lads some game time’,” he said.

A cracking Courtney Meade goal – his first for the club – put Holbeach ahead on Wednesday night. Picking the ball up deep, he ghosted by a couple of players before slamming it home from 25 yards.

Ryan Parnell drew Sleaford level after Stacy Cartwright was outjumped and a lapse from fellow defender Niall Delahoy.

After the break, Luke Hollingworth received a second caution, leaving the visitors with a harder task.

And sub Beeson grabbed the winner for the 2013 winners by cutting in from the left and firing right-footed into a bottom corner.

Drury added: “Lee’s goal got us across the finishing line.

“Courtney was chuffed with his first goal and Niall had a decent game after that slip, so all in all it was decent for us.”

The Tigers now have a home tie against Boston Town, an identical fixture to the one which quickly ended their hopes of an FA Cup run this season.

Tigers: Lovelace; Delahoy; Cartwright (Beeson); Pinner; Gibson; Fuller, Meade; Steadman (Duffy); King; Allen; Treacher (Dube).
