Holbeach United boss eyes KO Cup glory ahead of tricky trip to title hopefuls

Holbeach United chief Darren Jarvis insists that his side are gunning for ChromaSport UCL Knockout Cup glory this season.

The Tigers have a tricky-looking second round trip to fellow high-fliers Kirby Muxloe on Saturday (3pm), with a possible quarter-final with rivals Boston Town – who beat them 2-1 on Wednesday – in the offing should the Poachers negotiate through two more rounds.

Despite being well placed in the race for the UCL Premier Division title, Jarvis has revealed that there will be no let-up from his side in Leicestershire.

It’ll be the first time the sides have met this season – and the Tigers chief is looking forward to it.

He said: “I don’t think anyone at the club would ever go into a cup game not wanting to win.

“Do we want to win the league? Of course. But we also want to win the cup.

“Everyone at the club would love to see us lift some silverware, fans especially live for big cup games.

“We’ll not take the game lightly and there will be no let-up from me or the players.

“Kirby aren’t in the top three for no reason, they must be a strong side.

“I’ve asked a few managers about them, so we know what to expect.

“I’m looking forward to the game.”

Jarvis, who must do without the unavailable Tommy Treacher, while Gary King back is a doubt after picking up a knock in Wedensday’s loss.

He’s also boosted by Lee Beeson’s decision to commit himself to the Carter’s Park club for the rest of the season.

“Getting Lee back here is a really important piece of business,” added Jarvis. “He’s a top player that has a proven track record.

“We’ve now got a very competitive squad and it’s up to the management to keep everyone happy.”

Skipper Jamie Stevens should be fit to lead out the Tigers after limping out of the win over Deeping Rangers last week.
