Holbeach Scout and Guide hut still needs help to complete revamp

Holbeach Scouting and Guiding hut has new kitchen and toilet facilities.

The hut was donated 30 years ago and was in desperate need of renovation.
After three years of fundraising and a grant from the Grange Wind Farm Community Benefit Fund, the refurbishment started. However, unforseen problems caused the project to overrun and go over budget.

Paul Goodchild, Group Scout leader and chairman of the Guide and Scout hut management committee, said: “All the contractors who participated in this project were extremely helpful and I have to publicly thank JT Ward Kitchens and Bedrooms, who supplied and installed the kitchen and toilets, WEAAR Ltd, who removed the asbestos, Long Sutton Flooring, who did the floor, and SH Everitt Ltd, who did all the electrical work.
“Their patience and professionalism enabled this project to succeed.”

Paul also thanked project manager and Holbeach Guide leader Mary Lane.

Due to budget overrun, the ceiling still needs attention and the new areas remain unpainted. Jewson in Holbeach has donated paint and it is hoped that, with some financial help, the decorating will complete this month.
Anybody who can also assist with some blinds is asked to contact Paul at [email protected]
