Holbeach Reserves still in hunt for top two finish

In-form Holbeach United Reserves are showing no sign of relenting in their bid for promotion from Peterborough League Division One.

Omar Joof’s men cruised to a 3-0 derby triumph over South Holland rivals Sutton Bridge United on Saturday, leaving themselves ten points behind second-placed Langtoft United with three games in hand.

Gary Chappell, Thomas Brooks and David Wilson all notched at Carter’s Park for the Tigers, who host Kings Cliffe on Saturday.

In the same division, Long Sutton Athletic shaded a London Road thriller with Ketton 3-2.

Timothy Lowe bagged twice for the Magpies, with Matthew Wayman the other scorer.

Up in the Premier Division, Moulton Harrox were handed a surprise 2-1 home reverse by mid-table Riverside.

Ian Bradbury was on-target for Harrox at Broad Lane, but Samuel Donohoe and George Loosely scored at the other end.

Pinchbeck United remain third-from-bottom after a 5-2 reverse at Sawtry. A Michael Craig hat-trick was their undoing, rendering goals from Edgaras Buzas and Oli Gedney mere consolation.

Just two points above Pinchbeck are Crowland Town, who drew 1-1 at Coates Athletic. Luke Elsom was their scorer.

In Division Two, a Craig Keenan treble inspired Crowland Town Reserves to a 6-2 victory at Oakham United Reserves. Jamie Harker, David Howe and Ian Walker completed the rout.

Elsewhere, Pinchbeck United Reserves were defeated 2-1 at Leverington Sports Reserves, despite Jason Haytree’s strike.

There was also defeat for Gedney Hill, who suffered a 2-0 reverse at Ramsey Town Reserves.

In Division Four, Spalding Town are on the brink of clinching the crown after a 2-1 win at Baston Reserves. Markus Parry and James Thorold got the goals.

But there were defeats for Tydd St Mary and Sutton Bridge Reserves.

The Saints went down 4-1 at home to Glinton United despite Devon Furness’ goal, while Bridge were battered 7-1 at Hampton Sport. Shaun Bunn was their scorer.
