Holbeach raid Wisbech Town to land duo

Holbeach United have made a double swoop on Wisbech Town bringing in forward Billy Smith and persuading defender Jamie Stevens to return.

It’s the Tigers’ third signing from the club who last year were promoted from the ChromaSport Premier Division that Holbeach will looking to win this year.

Striker Josh Ford has already committed to returning to United for the new campaign.

It will be Holbeach born Stevens’s third spell at Carter’s Park.

The 29-year-old began his career playing career in the Football League with Boston United.

He first played for his home town club in 2011 and after a season at Spalding United and last year’s campaign with Wisbech, he’s a Tiger once again.

Joining Stevens in making the move is Smith who Wisbech were hoping to keep for their debut season in the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League East. The 32-year-old has been at Wisbech most of his career bar a short spell at Kings Lynn and is largely used on the wing.
