Holbeach poised for two new roundabouts and dualling of A17 stretch

A new proposal for highways improvements at Holbeach includes two roundabouts and a stretch of dual carriageway.

It had been thought that a single, three-arm roundabout was planned for Peppermint Junction, where the A151 meets the A17.
But county councillors have been told that a second roundabout, with four arms, near the travellers’ site would “unlock” growth potential of both commercial and residential development land nearby.
The £4m project is being funded with £2.415m from Greater Lincolnshire Local Enterprise Partnership, £1m from local developers (including Ashley King Developments as part of the S106 planning agreement for 900 homes at Manor Farm), and £600,000 from Lincolnshire County Council.

Furthermore, there is an “ambition” to dual the A17 between the new roundabout and an improved Boston Road roundabout to enable motorists to safely overtake slow-moving vehicles.
If funding for this extra part cannot be sourced initially, provision would be made for it as an add-on.
Councillors were told: “Peppermint Junction scheme could be progressed independently with a design that’s future-proofed to enable dualling at a later date.”

The proposals will go on show to the public in September.
