Holbeach race ace Ashley Rudd continued his fine season by bossing his category in the Norfolk and Suffolk Motocross Championship.

Amid awful wet and wild conditions made for a sloppy track at Hockham, the teenager finished top of Schoolboy 125 category on day two after taking a solid fifth 24 hours earlier.

Fellow TRM members Ryan and Kieran Rudd – who are Ashley’s brothers – were also in action over a treacherous weekend of racing and acquitted themselves as well as they possibly could.

Ashley began his weekend with a cool second place in his opener, before a massive crash in race two threatened to wreck his progress.

However, he picked himself up and battled back to grab 14th. A fourth place in the finale then sealed him fifth overall on the day.

Sunday proved an even better day for Ashley, as he again started with a second place before winning the next outing and placing third in the finale.
That sealed him first place overall in some of the most challenging conditions he’s ever competed in.

In the same category, Ryan had a slightly tougher time than his younger brother.

On day one he was 13th overall after finishes of eighth, 15th and 13th. Like Ashley, he was also involved in a big crash during race two and ended up in a ditch.

Sunday’s showing was an improved effort, as finishes of 12th, tenth and 19th made him tenth overall.

Kieran, the youngest of the Rudd clan, had a decent weekend in the Junior 65 group despite the conditions.

He managed sixth overall on day one with a consistent showing that saw him place sixth (twice) and fifth.

He slipped back to ninth overall on a tougher final day of racing with places of sixth, eighth and ninth – getting the coveted hole shot in the finale.

Meanwhile, Lee Rudd has made a welcome return to the saddle after more than a year out with a nasty ankle injury.

He took part in a practice session at Teesside, but decided against racing in tricky conditions.

Regardless, TRM were delighted to see him return to to the track.
