Holbeach Hub hopes to save festive fayre

Holbeach Hub has stepped in to offer a lifeline to one of the town’s Christmas fayres.
Fundraiser Les Ward was forced to cancel his plans for a street parade and market stalls fayre scheduled for Sunday, December 4, because of an administration error. The organising committee missed the deadline for submitting the street closure request and event plan.
Trustees at the Holbeach Hub have offered its Boston Road South premises and hope to work with Les to make a great day. There will be gifts and charity stalls, Santa’s grotto and displays by youth groups.
Holbeach district councillor Tracey Carter, speaking on behalf of the trustees, said: “We have been approached by a number of people who were going to be involved in the event and we have therefore decided to hold a Christmas Day at the Holbeach Hub.
“The trustees felt it will be great for the town as it will offer residents two venues to visit on the Sunday.
“The St Nicholas Fayre event being held at the church as one venue and then we will also offer different stalls and events at the hub, thereby complementing the existing St Nicholas Fayre, which has successfully run for the past few years.”
She added: “We felt it was important for us to offer our facilities. A number of good causes will still be able to raise valuable funds and it will also support local businesses as we hope that a number of the shops will be open on the Sunday and will benefit from the additional people the event will bring to our town.”
Les said he was “over the moon” with the plan.
