Holbeach Hospital is not taking on any new patients for its Day Care Centre as it looks to wind down the service.
The community-run hospital says it is prioritising its reablement services going forward.
The Holbeach and East Elloe Hospital Trust, which oversees the running, say those who currently use the service will continue to do so.
However those wishing to apply to join are being referred to other similar services locally.
A spokesman for the Holbeach and East Elloe Hospital Trust, said: “Holbeach Hospital has undergone expansion this year to meet the changing needs of the community we operate in.
“We have been facing unprecedented demand for nursing home beds and are now also working with the NHS to provide reablement beds to reduce pressures in NHS hospitals, for those who need a little more support before returning home.
“These priorities have meant we are unable offer day care to new clients; however, our existing day care clients are still very welcome to continue to attend for as long as they wish.
“We have been signposting any new enquiries to services in Spalding that are able to transport from Holbeach.
“Our day care is continuing to support our small number of existing clients for as long as they wish to attend but are unable to take on new referrals.”
In a bid to improve the options for Day Care services in Holbeach, The Meadows in Spalding have put on a bus every Monday to take patients to their services.
The charity’s manager Liz Walmsley, said: “We decided to put the Monday bus on and it’s been well received so far.
“We have places available.”
