Holbeach are ‘Fuller’ transfer targets

Wing wizard Ashley Fuller heads a sizeable list of targets for ambitious Holbeach United.

Fuller, who is a long-term target of joint Tigers chief John Chand, was a key part of the Kettering Town side that reached The Calor League Division One Central play-offs last season.

He’s one of five targets Chand and co-boss Graham Drury are looking to bring to Carter’s Park, but the duo are keeping their cards close to their chest.

Veteran keeper Paul Bastock is rumoured to be on their wish-list, but Chand was only willing to discuss the club’s move for Fuller.

He said: “Things are going nicely and we have five irons in the fire at the moment.

“We’ve set our targets and are hoping to hear back from them soon. Ashley Fuller is one we’re looking at, he’s a player that I’ve tried to sign in the past.

“It’s a tough time, players don’t really want to commit at this stage. But we’re certainly busy making approaches.”

Jamie Stevens, Jonny Allen, Adam Jackson, Gary King and Tom Roberts have already agreed deals with Holbeach ahead of next season.

And Chand has also revealed that from last year’s squad Matt Warfield, Niall Delahoy, Frazer Bayliss and Jordan Keeble have been asked to report back for pre-season training.

It is looking unlikely that keeper Leigh Overton will return for another season with the Tigers though, having relocated to Doncaster.

Meanwhile, games against Grantham Town, Bedford Town, Louth and Wyberton will be among Holbeach’s pre-season fixtures.

All matches will be finalised shortly.
