Holbeach drink-driver three times over the limit

A Holbeach van driver, who was almost three times the drink-drive limit when he struck a parked car, has been banned from the roads for more than two years.

Magistrates heard that Timothy Robert Patrick (41) was at the wheel of a Ford Connect van which hit the rear of a BMW in Sutton Road, Walpole Cross Keys.

The car driver, who had parked to see a friend, witnessed the 9.30pm incident and spoke to Patrick, who admitted he had been drinking. Police were called and he failed a roadside breath test and was arrested. A later evidential test showed 93 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, the legal limit being 35.

Patrick, of Low Lane, pleaded guilty at King’s Lynn Magistrates’ Court on Monday (Feb 25) to driving with excess alcohol on
January 25.

He was disqualified from driving for 26 months, which can be reduced by 26 weeks with completion of a drink-drivers’ rehabilitation course at his own expense. He was also fined £480 and ordered to pay £85 costs and £48 victim surcharge.
