Holbeach community centre gets a makeover

A popular venue for events and club and group meetings has a new look after securing lottery funding.

Holbeach Community Centre, in Fishpond Lane, received cash to install new safety flooring in the kitchen, small hall, entrance lobby and passageway areas.
Centre treasurer Cheryl Gratton said: “The works were carried out by flooring specialist Steve Ball and have transformed these areas from dull and outdated to a fabulous and welcoming sight at the way into the centre.”
Holbeach Community Centre was built in 1983 and has continued to be improved and updated over the years with help from lottery funding.
It is now used by around 15 weekly and monthly clubs and groups, including art classes, keep fit, badminton, short mat bowls, tai chi and radio controlled model car and flying sessions.
The venue also remains popular for weekend bookings for functions and events.
Bookings have already been confirmed for 2017.
Cheryl added: “The centre is a well-used and established community asset for Holbeach and surrounding towns and villages.”
Hire charges are £8 an hour for the large sports hall, £8 an hour for the small hall and kitchen and £16 an hour for the whole centre.
Hire charges per day with internal marquee are £200 and without marquee £100.
